About ELCI
Environment Liaison
Center International (ELCI) is a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) with a
vision of "Enlightening societies in ecological abundance " and core mandate of
"Using information to measurably improve the
environment". ELCI was established immediately upon creation of UNEP in Nairobi
in 1973-74, to be the Civil Society interface with UNEP and bring Civil Society
competence to the intergovernmental environmental table. Recently, ELCI has been
visible and useful in the intergovernmental environmetal context of the UNCBD
and UNCSD.
In addition, ELCI has fostered, sponsored and/or
managed replicable programmes of Civil Society in the areas of Desertification,
Health and Environment, poverty Environmental Law, Organic Agriculture, all of
these with a focus on Africa, notably East Africa. (More.....)
