Kivulini Stakeholders


Kivulini’s stakeholders are men and women ranging from school and out of schoolchildren, youth and adults. Organizations and institutions are most important for prevention of domestic violence. All above build a critical mass of people who can take actions or own what is acceptable or not acceptable around domestic violence in their own context.  Appended below is how Kivulini envisage in building critical mass:-

 

Stakeholder

Expected support and collaboration

1.Individuals

·        They are the agents of change in communities as local activists in preventing domestic violence within their contexts.

·        They track incidences and provide appropriate referrals victims of domestic violence. of

2.Community Volunteers

·        They enhance community ownership of programs by raising awareness because they live in the same communities.

·        They lead in the community activities on prevention of domestic violence in collaboration with street leaders.

·        They increase the number of people reached in the programs.

·        They are the source of information, intervene and counsel community members when in domestic violence problems.

3.Street leaders

·        They are the first leaders to be contacted by people with problems in the streets (including domestic violence).

·        One of their primary roles is to create and maintain peace in their streets one of them being domestic violence. It is where Kivulini needs to work with them very closely.

·        They are selected and trusted by street members. For any program to have good results must involve street leaders.

·        They are the key in developing ward by-laws which include issues of domestic violence.

4.Religious leaders

·        They play a big role to their followers in different denominations .Quit a big number of people attend their ceremonies or a prayer. The most emphasis is preaching love and peace which includes domestic violence prevention.

 

5. Ward Executive Officers and Ward Tribunals

·        The Ward Executive Officer office is where cases are referred by street leaders. The Ward Executive Officer is the secretary of the Ward Tribunal.

6. Local government

·        The office of District Director, the district will provide overall support to implementation of the programs.

·        The district, ward and villages will establish and support structures necessary for the co-ordination and sustainability of the programs activities including the enactment of by-laws on domestic violence.

·        The districts and regional officials are the decision makers at the local government influencing policy process.

 7. Department of Information services (Ministry of Information and Sports)

·        It will provide media coverage of the activities of programs for publicity and awareness raising purposes through Radio TV, and Newspapers.

8. -Ministry of Community Development Women affairs and Children. -Ministry of Health Department of Social Welfare. – Ministry of Education and Vocational Training.- Ministry of Public Safety Justice, Home Affairs and  Local Government (TAMISEMI)

·        Considering that ministries are the key for the policy and guideline provisions, the listed ministries are very strategic in policy advocacy in preventing domestic violence.

·        They will provide favorable policy and guidelines which will enable a positive environment to prevent domestic violence.

9. Local NGOs/CBOs Networks

·        Local, National and Regional networks increase joint efforts in advocating for better policies for women.

·        They will mainstream domestic violence in their programs or projects.

10. Development partners (donors)

·        They provide the necessary resources to realize Kivulini mission and vision

·        They give technical support and capacity building of staff and other stakeholders involved in the programs.
